“Wind under the Wings,” French Institute in China, 2017

Publication date: September 7, 2017

Muriel Pénicaud does not "photograph birds." She photographs what they still embody: myths, divinities, angels, demons, humans. She attempts to restore within us a part of the splendor that once belonged to us.

-- Pierre Bongiovanni (curator - Maison Laurentine)

Now Minister of Labor, previously an executive in major international corporations, photography and writing have always been Muriel Pénicaud's two great passions. She has traveled the world and used her camera lens to follow birds in their natural environment, capturing their nobility, elegance, strength, and fragility. The result is a series of black-and-white photographs, images that offer a new perspective on what birds represent for humans and for the environment in which we live.

Muriel Pénicaud, Minister of Labor since May 2017, is a French business leader, senior civil servant, and politician. She recently exhibited at Chez Deyrolle and at the French Institute in Japan – Tokyo, gallery.
