Opening of “In Cielo In Terra” at the Museo Parisi Valle in Maccagno, Italy

On Saturday, March 28, the Museo Parisi Valle opened "In Cielo In Terra," an exhibition dedicated to the photographic work of Muriel Pénicaud, which runs through June 29.

More than 160 people gathered that evening. As soon as they arrived, a surprise awaited the guests: cocktails named after Muriel Pénicaud’s photographs, a thoughtful touch conceived by Federico Crimi, the museum’s director and curator of the exhibition.

In his speech, Federico Crimi noted that this exhibition marks an important milestone in the museum’s history. For the first time, the Museo Parisi Valle is dedicating an entire exhibition to photography, the culmination of a project that began two years ago.

Maria Cristina Madou, author of the essay “Fleeting Moments” published in Muriel Pénicaud’s monograph *Matrice du Monde*, highlighted the uniqueness of her perspective—an attention focused on others in the broadest sense, on humanity, nature, and the world around us, without ever seeking to impose herself, but always with a discreet curiosity.

Françoise Nyssens spoke of friendship. A friendship that began nine years ago, around a large table, when they were in government. It was this friendship, she confided, that led her to speak that evening, to pay tribute to the talent of an artist who has tirelessly forged her own path, capturing moments we would not have without her keen and patient eye.

In closing, Muriel Pénicaud turned to the audience with a simple and sincere invitation: to tell her which photograph had moved them. “It is your perspective that enriches mine.”

She quoted Letizia Battaglia, whose words resonate deeply with her own approach:

“My entire life and my photography bear witness to this. And today, I invite you to experience this same freedom as you discover my poetic journey.”
