"Wind under the Wings" Exhibition, Valis Clausa Gallery | May 27 - June 18, 2017
From May 27 to June 18, 2017, the Valis Clausa gallery presented Wind under the Wings, an exhibition of photographs by Muriel Pénicaud, in partnership with Maison Laurentine, curated by Pierre Bongiovanni. "Muriel Pénicaud does not 'photograph birds'. She photographs what they still embody: myths, divinities, angels, demons, men. She attempts to restore within us a part of the splendor that once belonged to us."
Now Minister of Labor and formerly an executive at major international corporations, photography and writing have always been Muriel Pénicaud's two great passions. Traveling the world, she has followed birds in their natural environment, capturing their nobility, elegance, and strength, while also highlighting their fragility. This series of black-and-white photographs offers us a new perspective on what birds represent for humans and on the environment in which we live.
