Wind into the Roots
The history of humanity is endlessly intertwined with the history of trees. We are only a tiny part of the living world. Our existence depends on trees, as they absorb carbon, retain the soil, and nourish the ecosystem. By connecting the earth and the sky, the tree is at the heart of life.
Humanity has long venerated trees, then we colonized, exploited, and largely destroyed them. Yet, the telluric power of the tree persists far beyond our perception of time. It is our master in resilience, in patience, in generosity of long time.
By photographing the tree, I seek to enter into it, to embrace it, to feel from its roots to its branches the sumptuous power of life that connects all beings.
