Exhibitions in Pondicherry: “Deep Heights” and “Wind into the Roots”

Two exhibitions by Muriel Pénicaud kick off the year in Pondicherry. From January 17 to February 23, 2025, you can discover Deep Heights at the Kalinka Gallery, while Wind into the Roots will be on display at The Spot until February 28, 2025. The opening reception will take place on Friday, January 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Spot.

Wind into the Roots, presented at The Spot, highlights two major series focused on urban landscapes and trees.Deep Heights, at the Kalinka Art Gallery, is an allegory of freedom and spiritual elevation through poetic images of birds. This exhibition also highlights themes such as women's empowerment and freedom, showcasing works from his Life is Red and Wing Under the Winds series.

The bird, a recurring motif, becomes a symbol of freedom and transcendence, while the Life is Red series explores the color red as a powerful narrative of suffering, resilience, and the unwavering strength of women across generations.

In these exhibitions, Muriel Pénicaud explores a unique form of visual storytelling, where each image tells a story and captures an emotion. Her photographs capture the poetry of the moment, whether fleeting like the flight of a bird or timeless like the majesty of trees.

His first photographic monograph, Matrice des mondes, published in 2024, will be presented during a book signing event at the Kalinka Art Gallery on January 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. This monograph, which brings together 150 of his prints, highlights his humanistic and poetic approach to photography.
